Some interesting facts from the WOC. As lot of the participants' names are now disclosed we acknoledged that some of them had been present in Hungary at the previous WOC held in Zalaegerszeg in 1983, too. And one of them, Pavlina Brautigam of the USA team was not only present, but also active runner, though that time as Pavlina Genova, the member of the Bulgarian team. |

The officials of the WOC 2008 in Czech Republic - Pavel Sekanina (chairman of the Organising Committee) and Radan Kamenický (president of the Czech Orienteering Federation) - handed the IOF flag to Hungarian organizers. The flag was taken over by Zsolt Gerzsényi (president of the WOC2009 Organizing Comittee). |

 The WOC organizers have contacted the developers of SPORTident and EMIT who’s punching systems are approved by the IOF. Based on negotiations, a decision was made that the SPORTident system will be used at the WOC2009.
