Last year's world champion, Andrey Khramov didn't have the best qualification, so he started in the middle of the list, but it didn't disturb him to have a great run: ha was beating the Swiss opponents with almost half a minute. He was followed by the young Fabian Hertner, who started last before and overtook team-mate Daniel Hubmann. The qualification's best runner - the last starter - Olav Lundanes (22 years old Norwegian) reached up to forth position. He was followed by Martin Johansson of Sweden in fifth and - making big surprise - Kiril Nikolov of Bulgaria in sixth place.
